Moveable Feast is an ongoing creative textile making project involving members of the Clonakilty Glounthaune Communities in County Cork; specifically asylum seekers living in direct provision centres within these communities, refugees who have been through the direct provision system and members of the local community.
The aims of the project are to provide a safe and open space to foster the development and support of creative communities, to encourage integration and mutual understanding through creative means and to provide an opportunity for people who may not usually meet, to come together and actively participate in a shared activity.
Through a series of practical sessions with the focus on skills sharing, over the past few months the group have been working on the development of textiles linked to the themes of home-making and hospitality. The project culminates in a community based feast for the eyes and senses at the Sirius Arts Centre at which all are very welcome.
This project is partially funded by Creative Ireland, Cork County Council’s Municipal Districts Creative Communities Award Scheme, the Crawford Art Gallery and Create.
Free entry, no booking required.
