The Burma at SIRIUS
The Burma are a band based in Cork, Ireland. The three-piece comprises Tony O’Donovan, Peter Piggott–both from Cobh–and Cian Doherty. They are named after The Burma Steps in Cobh. Accrediting their sound to influences of indie scenes in the United States and the United Kingdom from the 1980s to the early 2000s, they list bands such as The Killers, Tame Impala, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes as their inspiration.
The Burma’s debut album, Sucker for Stars, has gained extensive coverage and airplay across Ireland, and their highly anticipated sophomore album, Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities, was released this past 6 October. At SIRIUS, they present a homecoming evening debuting their newest album to the people of Cobh and beyond.
