From the Forest is a band built on the voices of Vickie Keating and Aine O’ Gorman. The combination of their voices is magical.
Vickie Keating is a powerful, instinctive singer. Vickie is from Cobh, Co. Cork and has sung with bands The Zimmermanz, No Superman, and Army Dreamers. She has recorded and toured extensively with Declan Sinnott and Christy Moore. Vickie has loved words and writing for as long as she can remember. Her songs are dark, quirky and joyful.
Aine O’Gorman has an incredible voice that needs to be heard. She has been playing piano and violin, and singing harmonies with her sisters since childhood. Aine has recorded with acts as diverse as Fred and John Neville. She now writes and arranges her own compositions for From the Forest.
Declan Sinnott has been playing guitar for fifty years. His mother wanted him to get a real job, but he persevered. Declan has enriched many Irish landmark recordings with his skills as a producer and musician; Christy Moore, Mary Black, Sinead Lohan, Moving Hearts. Declan is Musical Director and producer for the forthcoming album with From the Forest. Declan is currently recording his third solo album.
Jamie Kelly is a very individual bass player, writer and producer. He wrote, produced and toured with his bands Autonymous I and Kafanha. He now brings his quirky compositions to From the Forest, where they belong.
Martin Leahy is a very interesting musician. He has played many instruments with a diverse range of artists; North Cregg, Small Town Talk, Greenshine, Cormac O’Caoimh. His credits as a producer include Some Rise, Some Fall and John Neville. Martin is the drummer with From the Forest and under his control, the drums roar and whisper and everything in between.
“Seriously good new band. Great original sound with classy vocals and instrumentation. Loved it.” The DC Music Club, Dublin, 2018.
