Bee Talk
Wednesday 8 May 2019
1pm Free
Join us for a lunchtime talk with a local beekeeper and learn about the importance of one of the hardest working creatures on Earth. We owe a lot to the incredible work ethic and often unappreciated benefits of these amazing insects: bees are responsible for the pollination of nearly three quarters of the plants that produce 90% of the world’s food. A third of the world’s food production depends on bees, i.e. every third spoonful of food depends on pollination.
As part of the talk, bee types will be explained and you will get the chance to get hands-on with beekeeping equipment and to see the different honey beehive parts. You’ll also learn what you can do with little effort to support these incredible and absolutely necessary creatures.
